DOMA receives key approval for Brickworks project, paving the way for future development

DOMA is pleased to announce the approval of the Estate Development Plan (EDP) Development Application (DA) for the Brickworks site. This significant milestone marks the gateway for further substantive design work, setting the foundation for what will be one of Canberra’s most transformative developments.

“We are thrilled to have received this EDP DA, as it allows us to move forward with our vision for the Brickworks site,” Jure Domazet, Managing Director of DOMA. “This approval is a critical step, and we are now eagerly awaiting further approvals for the Heritage Core, which includes the iconic kilns and associated buildings. These areas will house a mix of restaurants, bars, bakery, gym, day spa and skin clinic and commercial offices, offering a unique blend of heritage and modern amenities.”

In addition to the Heritage Core, DOMA is also awaiting approvals for the first apartment block and first townhouse development. Additional DAs will be lodged shortlythat will introduce the first single houses along Bentham Street. Design work for the first separate title townhouse blocks and the houses along Denman Street is also set to commence soon.

Construction on the Brickworks project, covering civil infrastructure work, the heritage buildings, park, and the first housing and townhouse blocks, is slated to begin in 2025. Marketing efforts are expected to kick off the same year, although DOMA has already begun recording expressions of interest from prospective buyers.

“Our design process has been iterative over the last five years, reflecting a deep collaboration with our design team, the Suburban Land Agency (SLA), the ACT Heritage Council, and the local community,” added the spokesperson. “This project represents a significant investment in Canberra’s future, blending historical preservation with contemporary living.”
