Canberra based Doma Group will build a $120 million Little National Hotel above Wynyard Walk – just over Wynyard Station in Sydney –reflecting the development boom around new infrastructure and the likely competition for sites above new metro stations.

Doma Group’s general manager for development Gavin Edgar said the group would now build its third Little National Hotel with 230 high-quality, but smaller-configuration rooms. “We had been looking for a Little National Hotel site for a number of years in Sydney, but identified this prime location as being perfect to suit the needs of our guests,” Mr Edgar said.“The hotel is conceived for the business, conference and leisure guest who demands smart luxury and high amenity in a super-prime location.”

Colliers head of hotels Gus Moors said there was an international movement towards this new hotel concept known as “affordable luxury”. “This innovative approach to hotel design is being watched with intense interest by international hotel operators and owners.”

Doma Group has engaged Bates Smart Architects to design both the Sydney hotel and a Little National Hotel that Doma Group has in Newcastle.
